Hey Rally-ers,

We have some space available for ride share from San Diego. Please PM me for details and help setting it up. $10 to help with gas is needed in exchange for a ride. PM me your email address, name, phone number and where you live to check availability and to pass on to the right person.

Thanks,
Mike
3  Legend of the Seeker Rallies / Washington DC Rally / Re: Organizing the DC (Silver Spring, MD) Rally on: June 21, 2010, 06:47:50 pm
I'm favorable to wordpress.com for a blog, try to get DCseekerrally.wordpress.com as your address. You can post updates there and make basic info pages. Enough to be an information source for a rally. The video is optional, you can do it if you want to. But having a single site for each rally to include in the master blog's blogroll will help. Look into the required lead time on a permit, we may forgo them if we don't have enough people to justify the permit, for LA and Orlando the permit threshold is 100 people, plus $100 for Orlando and potentially $300 for LA(ouch).

I can kind of understand the permit fees to cover police costs of monitoring the rally, maybe we should go with your idea of multiple smaller rallies. Otherwise, the costs could get out of hand, and so far the Cafepress shop doesn't show any sales. I'm only going to go ahead with my permit if they are still waiving the $300 that an assembly permit costs.

Auroracat,

Could you please set up a basic blog site for your rally, something I can link to from the master blog for all the rallies. Also if you want to make a video talking about your rally or the rally movement in general it would be awesome. I need some more material for the official rally channel on Youtube.

Is the Silver Spring Center going to be your official location? and if so, what time were you thinking of starting. I am leaning towards 4pm - 8pm for mine. Then some form of afterparty to chill out.

Thanks,
Mike
7  Legend of the Seeker Rallies / Rally Site Suggestion / Rally Organization material / Re: Rally Goers, What to Bring on Rally Day on: June 17, 2010, 08:59:00 pm
Good list, especially on the weather related items. I'll be bringing a cooler full of ice with my bottled water, cold food, etc in it. I might go with a small PA system instead of a bullhorn to address the crowd/let people speak on.
8  Legend of the Seeker Rallies / Rally Site Suggestion / Rally Organization material / Updates to rallies on: June 16, 2010, 08:42:16 pm
Hey guys,

Anyone with updates for their respective rallies, can you please post them in this thread. I am going to start collating them into a master update for the overall blog for the rallies at http://seekerrallieshq.wordpress.com/ for the world to see.

If you guys don't have a blog(or regular) site set up for your rally please set one up so there is a place to present details to the community, and for me to link to from the master blog site.

Thank you,
Mike

Is DC Rally OK, I think it'll be better than Silver Springs. We'll get the design up for DC.
10  Legend of the Seeker Rallies / Rally Site Suggestion / Rally Organization material / Store for rally merchandise. on: June 16, 2010, 03:48:40 pm
Hey fellow organizers,

we have a store set up for rally merchandise now.

http://www.cafepress.com/UnitetoSaveOurSeeker

If your rally isn't listed there, let us know and we will get your rally merchandise in the store.

Promote it, link it, buy yourself something for your rally, etc.

14  Legend of the Seeker Rallies / Rally Site Suggestion / Rally Organization material / Re: Fundraising for the rallies on: June 14, 2010, 08:02:49 pm
I like that idea. Have you ever set up a cafepress account?
15  Legend of the Seeker Rallies / Rally Site Suggestion / Rally Organization material / Fundraising for the rallies on: June 14, 2010, 07:09:29 pm
Fundraising should begin soon. I have a couple of ideas to throw out there for you guys to consider:

1. Bumper stickers. Can be bought in bulk and resold, the proceeds can cover things like permits, party tent rentals, banners, etc.

2. Rally "Yearbooks" sold to people at a reasonable cost as memorabilia, and ads could be sold to add to the funds.

3. Getting local businesses to sponsor the rallies.

Anything we do should be coordinated between the organizers so we can get bulk pricing and make sure our materials are as good as we can make them.

Put forth your ideas, I am sure there are other ways to cover the costs and possibly not overburden the fans.

Thanks,
Mike
